Why I Named My Girl Iqra?
When I read the name iqra, it caught my heart. The meaning — first word of the quran, to read, to recite — spoke to me. Coming from our muslim heritage, and with roots in urdu, it felt connected to who we are.
We weren’t drawn to a trendy name — we wanted something rich in meaning. iqra was simply perfect. Every time I say it, I’m reminded of the pride behind it. That’s why I named my girl iqra.
